Every year Mental Health America in Allen County participates in the annual Christmas Gift Lift project. Many community volunteers purchase gifts or fill stockings with toiletries for area residents who suffer from mental illness or developmental delay and who live in local nursing homes, independent living programs, Easter Seals ARC, AWS, Park Center and other group homes and for people who are in psychiatric departments of the local hospitals over the holidays. The gifts are sorted and delivered by MHA staff and volunteers. Monetary donations are also accepted.

During the Christmas Gift Lift volunteer opportunities include:

• Purchase toiletries for Christmas Stockings for Park Center Drop In Center Clients
• Buy gifts for clients (approx cost $12-15)
• Deliver Nursing Home gifts
• Deliver fruit baskets
• Sort and assign gifts
